Future Genomics Technologies BV (FG-Tech) is a new genomics R&D company. It was founded in 2017 and has taken over the genomics activities of ZF-screens BV, another Leiden-based SME. Its core business is developing new applications of the latest sequencing technology, with an emphasis on de novo genome assembly and transcriptome profiling. Its technologies include state-of-the-art genomics tools. FG-Tech is co-owner of an Illumina HiSeq2500 sequencer and Oxford Nanopore sequencers (MinION, GridION and PromethION) and has multiple years of experience with de novo vertebrate genome assembly and gene expression profiling based on RNAseq analysis. FG-Tech and its sister company BaseClear are the first certified service providers of Oxford Nanopore Technologies.
Role in the project:
Future Genomics Technologies will have a key role in genomics and transcriptomics analysis of host-parasite interactions (WP1), including de novo parasite genome assemblies and biomarker discovery. In addition, Future Genomics Technologies will participate in developing screening platforms for new effective drugs against parasitic diseases (WP5).
