The ParaFishControl consortium gathers 29 partners comprising public and private partners with crosscutting complementary skills from 13 European countries: Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Andromeda Group is a group of companies in the Mediterranean Aquaculture industry, with activity across Europe and with worldwide export power as well. Andromeda Group has facilities in Greece, Albania and Spain and includes 7 clusters with an annual production capacity of 15.000 tons and the potential for additional capacity of 7.000 tons. We provide excellent customer service, delivering our fish to the main European markets within 48 hours from harvesting, meeting our customers' expectations in terms of species, sizes and volume requirements Andromeda Group operates 2 hatcheries, one in Spain and one in Greece, and a pre-growing unit in Spain, with a total production of 100 million fries per year.

The involved Andromeda Group teams hold experience in fish production to carry out experimental trial in cage with qualify knowledge in diagnosis, management and treatment of different fish pathology.

Role in the project:

Andromeda Group is one of the project farms involved in, WP3, WP4 and WP5 and will bring a special contribution to E. leei, Sparicotyle chrysophrii and Enterospora nucleophila.

Key persons involved:

 

Javier Villa studied Biology at the University Complutense Madrid (Zoology) and has a Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences-Aquaculture from the University of Hiroshima. He held the position of Technical Manager of Andromeda Iberica from 2012, following all the production Improvement trials held in the Spanish production of the group. He has work experience in Aquaculture from 1986 in different production project of bream and bass.

 

Panagiotis Kolios studied Biology at the Aristotelian University of Thessalonica and has a Master Degree in Marine Biology, Fisheries and Aquaculture from the University of Patras. He was one of the founding members of the team that created Andromeda, being shareholder and Vice-President of the company until today. From 2005 to 2010 he was the general manager, with main responsibility the production. From 2007 he was involved in the expansion project of Andromeda in Greece and in Spain. He was a member of the BOD of Federation of Greek Maricultures from 2007 to 2010. He will be participating in the design and evaluation of all processes Andromeda has to do for the project.

 

Nikos Katribouzas studied ichthyology in the Dept. of Aquaculture & Fisheries Management of the Technological Educational Institute of Messolongi. He was one of the founding members of the team that created Andromeda. Held the position of hatchery manager from 2001 being also responsible of R&D. Currently he holds the position of Group farm manager.

 

Gustavo Espelleta studied Biology at the University of Valencia. He held the position of Hatchery Manager of Andromeda Iberica from 2012. He is the responsible of all the R&D projects related with the Hatchery and the pre growing unit in Spain.

 

Micaela Brass studied Veterinary at the University Tecnica of Lisboa. She held the position of Fish Health Service Manager in Andromeda Iberica from 2009, and she is involved in Aquaculture activity from 2006. She will be actively participating in the project during all the stages to monitor the sanitary evolution of the trials in Spain.

 

Petropoulos Ioannis has a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science by the Agricultural University of Athens, and Master in Aquatic Pathobiology at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. He held the position of Fish Health Service Manager in Andromeda from 2008, and he is involved in Aquaculture activity from 2006. He will be actively participating in the project during all the stages to monitor the sanitary evolution of the trials in Greece.

 

Tzokas Kostas is a biologist. He holds the position of Andromeda’s R&D responsible. He will actively participate in the project during all the stages regarding the production issues and follow up of the trials.
